Sometimes the best thing for healthy play is simply to step away for a little while. A break, often called a time-out or cool-off, lets you pause your account for a short, defined period. It is a quick, no-judgement way to reset, clear your head and come back only when you are ready.
Taking a break is completely normal and easy to do. It is there for any reason at all — whether you want to stick to a budget, take a breather during a busy week, or just give yourself some distance from play for a few days.
2.How a break works
When you start a break, your account is paused for the period you choose. During that time you cannot place new plays or make deposits, and we will not send you marketing invitations to return. You can still log in to view your account, balance and history.
A break is intended to be short and temporary. You can choose a time-out from 24 hours up to 6 weeks. Once the period ends, your account simply resumes as normal — there is nothing else you need to do.
3.Choosing how long
You decide how long your break lasts when you set it up, choosing from the available durations. A shorter time-out is ideal for a quick reset, while a longer cool-off gives you more space if you feel you need it. Pick the length that feels right for you in the moment.
If you reach the end of a break and want more time, you can start another one. And if you feel you need a longer or more definite step back, Self-Exclusion may be a better fit.
4.Setting up a break
You can start a break at any time from your account settings, under your play-control options. Choose the break length, confirm, and it takes effect right away. There is no waiting period to begin a break — your boundary applies immediately.
If you would like help setting up a break, or are not sure which option suits you, our support team is available and the conversation is confidential.
5.More support
A break sits alongside our other tools. If you want firmer control over spending, see Gambling Limits; if you would like to step away for a longer, more structured period, see Self-Exclusion. You can combine these tools in whatever way works best for you.
If play stops feeling fun, free and confidential support is available. You will find helpline details and provincial resources on our Responsible gambling page.
